BeamGage – First Time Camera Initialization

The Problem:

First time camera initialization with BeamGage can result in an undesirable too short Exposure setting.

The Solution:

Some cameras such as the SP932U camera will initialize the first time in BeamGage with an extremely short Exposure time of 0.01ms. This short of an Exposure time causes the camera to be much less sensitive and will require higher light input intensity than recommended to achieve normal response. Before operating the SP932U or other affected cameras for the first time, set the Exposure time longer to something such as 30-100ms for normal operation.

Although the Exposure time can help optimize the brightness setting of the camera, it is better to provide external beam sampling and ND filter attenuation as needed first, then optimize the displayed brightness further with the Exposure time.
